Trip to D.C.

It was an exceptional honor to represent the Gateway region YMCA and Missouri at the Youth Governors Conference in Washington D.C. this past summer. In the nation's capital, we were given the incredible opportunity to share our initiative with congressional staffers and youth governors nationwide. This experience in D.C. opened our eyes to a variety of inspiring projects from all across the country, sharpened our public speaking skills, and allowed us to meet some very remarkable individuals.

We were placed in the top six nationwide for our project but did not receive the $5,000. This did not stop us from wanting to help North County, we are currently taking our initiative to the next level.

We left the conference equipped with valuable insights and enriched by the connections we made. Now, we are even more driven to enhance our initiative, using the knowledge and feedback we received to exceed all our previous goals. We are excited to channel everything we learned into making a lasting, positive change in our community.

We want to give recognition to LHS teacher Mr. Tim Deposki, the Gateway Region YMCA, and Emerson YMCA who are supporting us throughout this process and supplying us with opportunities we thought were impossible. Thank you!
